CHOOSE HOW TO TRAVEL FREE
CAMPING IN EUROPE

Freedom in respect of the rules.
In much of Europe, free camping – that is, outside of designated campgrounds – is prohibited or severely restricted, even if the regulations may vary significantly from country to country.

Autohome® distinguishes two categories of use:

  • Rooftop tents that remain within the profile of the vehicle, to travel and stop discreetly;
  • Tents that extend beyond the bulk for stopping and experience the sites dedicated to camping.

Two ways to experience your
journey from a single source: Autohome®.

CAMPER SHELL ROOFTOP TENTS
CLASS 1ª - WITHIN THE PROFILE BY NATURE

WITHIN THE PROFILE OF THE VEHICLE IS SIMPLY PARKING.

For travelling in Europe, the space is integrated into the vehicle.

All AUTOHOME® roof tents, when open, remain within the profile of the vehicle (not extending beyond the side mirrors).

Sleeping flush with your vehicle is not considered camping, but a simple stop.

AUTOHOME® roof tents: streamlined travel, free travel.

FABRIC ROOF TENTS
CLASS 2ª - PROTRUDING BY CONFIGURATION

BEYOND THE PROFILE OF THE VEHICLE IS CAMPING.

Protruding rooftop tents are fold-up models in fabric that, once opened, extend beyond the mirrors or profile of the vehicle.

They allow you to stay at campsites or even in private or authorised areas.

A solution suitable for Overlanding, in the countries where such travel is permitted.

In Europe this configuration falls within the definition of camping and is therefore subject to the relevant regulations.

WILD CAMPING IN EUROPE

In Europe, wild camping is often prohibited or restricted.

AUTOHOME® distinguishes between two modes of use:

  • Tents within the vehicle outline: stopping/parking.
  • Tents outside the vehicle outline: camping and private areas.
